Colour, Rhythm and Abstraction - exploring colour with Julian Brown

Our exciting new course is tutored by innovative artist Julian Brown, who's work has been exhibitied in Japan and China and across the UK.
There is something very joyful about working with colour and Julian is a wonderful tutor, helping students feel confident and playful with colour and composition. This is a course that gives an opportunity for students to go on a personal journey developing their own creative approach to exploring the beauty, movement and depth of colour.

Colour, Rhythm and Abstraction - Patterns that Connect
March 25th - 27th 2019 (Monday - Wednesday)
Exploring the beauty of colour through abstraction and pattern, the course will teach you how to create luminosity, rhythm and balance in painting. Starting with some of the rules of composition, over the three days the work will develop through layering, editing, mark making and expression.

Katie Sollohub is an artist who' work explores the narrative components surrounding objects, memories, interior and exterior spaces, brought to life with her spectacular use of colour and detail. She has recently been represented by Candida Stevens Gallery in a 2 person show “Summer” in Chichester and at the Affordable Art Fair in London, Oct 2018.
This course not only gives students the opportunity to be tutored by Katie, but this month, give them the inspirng experience of working alongside Emily Ball, artist and director of Emily Ball at Seawhite!

Painting and drawing the head is more than just about getting a likeness. It is about form, and expression, the direction and quality of the mark. It is about the gaze, the character of the pose, the turn of the head, the angle of the neck, the light.
