![]() Image: Bejewelled Tree by Emily Ball Dear Visitor It’s been a while since we sent out a newsletter. We have been busy at the Seawhite studio developing a new offer of online courses and we are excited to share with you how the Autumn term is shaping up! In the last few month the usual painting and drawing programme at the Seawhite studio has been turned on its head. However, one constant has been our collective desire to keep painting, drawing and creating. Together, we have learned how to keep the Seawhite Studio’s wonderful sense of community and support going through a mix of live-steamed courses, pre-recorded courses and now - as we move into the Autumn term - face-to-face courses at the studio. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have put in place a number of changes to ensure a safe, healthy and welcoming studio environment, whether you are a student, staff or visitor. You can read our Covid-19 policy here. A key difference is that we have reduced the numbers of students attending any course at the studio to just 6. This gives everyone very big work spaces so that social distancing is more than covered. Emily is looking forward to welcoming back the monthly courses to the Seawhite Studio. Both the Painting Group and Creative Painting Space are going ahead in the Autumn Term. The Painting Group is nearly full (with just one place left for the Autumn term), but spaces are still available for the November and December dates of the Creative Painting Space . To find out more or to book a place, please click on the course titles above. Finally, in whatever way you choose to join us, we look forward to welcoming you (back) to the Seawhite Studio and hope you find our Autumn programme inspiring and engaging. |

Image: Eve, photography by Emily Ball Drawing and Painting the Clothed Figure | Online Course : live-streamed from the Seawhite Studio | Emily Ball |26-29 October 2020 Emily will be creating a rich installation with screens, draped pattern fabrics and a chair as a fabulous backdrop for her clothed figure. Working alongside her in their own studios, students will have their own model (perhaps a family member of a friend) to work from. Emily will do demonstrations, working through the stages of making studies through to starting a large painting. “The last time I did a painting about my daughter Eve she was in a high chair. Now she is a strong, intelligent, beautiful young woman and I really want to capture this in a painting. My work is never about making a photographic or illustrative likeness. It is about capturing the essence, the pose, the gaze, celebrating the person and finding an image in the paint.” For more information and to book a place on this course, please click on the course title below.
