Now Offered as an Pre-recorded Online Course - You can start the course any time between June 24th 2020 and September 30th 2021. You can have access to the films for as long as you need. This is a pre-recorded version of the live online course that I did in May. It is created as a 4 day course and each days recording is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes long. It provides demonstrations and explanations of the processes and exercises that I offer. These are designed to help artists tackle the subject in a way that is expressive, personal and more intuitive. It also suggests ways to navigate the creative process and the journey that a body of work takes . The joy of being able to offer these recorded sessions is that you can work in your own studio space and at your own speed. You can watch them several times over and at a pace to suit your daily timetable. You can take much longer than four days if you need to. Once you have completed the course and made work, which does not have to be finished, you can send me images. I will enjoy looking at them and give you emailed feedback about what you have done and advice about how you might go forward..

This course gives you exclusive access to a pre-recorded 20 minute film where Emily shares with you a process that is fundamental to her practise as a painter. Also part of the fee is a one hour, one to one, online tutorial to help you create and sustain a personal project that you can develop into a substantial body of work. In the film Emily does practical demonstrations and shares her thoughts and decision making as she works. Online Course - Pre-recorded The Working Landscape is a practical drawing and painting course led by Simon Carter. It comprises of four separate films, each one giving processes and inspiration for a days work in your own studio. However, the joy of having the films is that you can pause, rewind and revisit aspects of the film at your own pace. You can start when you want and take as long as you would like to complete it. The course gives you the opportunity to follow Simon in his working routines. His critically acclaimed paintings, in response to his local landscape, are masterful examples of the powerful, poetic beauty that paint can create when delivered with the confidence and experience of a professional artist. It is a rare opportunity to look over his shoulder as he walks and draws in the landscape, and as he draws and paints in the studio.

Autumn begins and Nature slows. As a celebratory finale the colours and majestic shapes of Autumn trees illuminate the landscape; often framed with a slate grey or sharp, clear, pale blue sky. Ornate tapestries of reds, oranges, yellows, browns, greens and purples appear in the canopies that reach skyward and spread out like hanging skirts. This 4 day course is all about capturing and exploring these qualities in drawing and painting.

This course is for students wishing to expand their drawing practice and find new limits, beyond the scale of your average drawing, by working large, freely, involving body and breath. You will be your own model, working on 2 or 3 large sale drawings, and guided by Katie’s exercises and meditation. She will encourage you to experiment, layer, develop and change the drawings over the course of 3 days.
