Course dates: September 27th - 2th 2016 (Tuesday-Wednesday)
A 2 day course creating large scale abstract drawings, using the body's physical gestures as a starting point. Working with intuition and spontaneity on day one, followed by a more considered approach on the second day. This course is intended to help you forward by giving you the experience to apply both in your own practice, and the confidence to trust your own judgment.
The first day will involve simple breathing and movement exercises, and partnership work, in order to encourage a spontaneous and physical response to the drawing process. You will be working on Fabriano rolls of paper, lining floor and walls, so that the whole body is involved in the act of drawing. Using charcoal, sticks, rags, mops, graphite, ink and chalks. On the second day there will be a review of the drawings so far, and an opportunity to respond to the marks made with more consideration for space and composition. Cutting and splicing the drawings made the day before, extending the image, creating space, rubbing out, repeating marks. .
