Course dates: September 19th - 22nd 2016 (Monday-Thursday)
Simon Carter works on location on the Essex Coast creating vigorous and rhythmical drawings of the sea, light, clouds and land. He then takes these drawings to his studio to create expressive responses to them and his memory with acrylics on canvas. On this course he will share his working process. Students will look at the ‘to and fro’ process of drawing outdoors and painting in the studio. Starting with observational drawing students will see how the act of drawing can provide a language for studio painting. Conversely they will see how the painting process alters the kind of drawings that need to be made. each day there will be time to make drawings as well as time to develop a larger studio painting.
