You will make a body of work (both drawings and paintings) from your objects paying special attention fabrics and objects with sumptuous colour, pattern, texture, as well as personal association. Using different approaches to get to know the subject (through touch, writing and memory as well as visually) we will explore the subject beyond the traditional still life. The work produced will be autobiographical, a personal story, a self portrait using objects that mean something to you, or that have metaphorical relevance to your life and loves. Meeting monthly means that Katie and Emily will ask you to do preparation work for each session. The work you do in your own time will be used to inspire paintings and drawings during the class. You will be encouraged to get into the the routine of a daily practice, even if it is just 10 minutes drawing a day.
