Prime is an exhibition of paintings by four artists: Jacky Bellamy, Jane Cattlin, Philippa Paterson and Juliet Robertson. Each artist has a connection with the Seawhite studio, having attended numerous courses over many years. All are prize winners of national art competitions. But perhaps more significant in terms of an overarching theme for the exhibition is that each could proudly be described as an Older Women Artist. This title has been applied to a growing number of women artists - Rose Wyle, Phylida Barlow and Gillian Ayres –who are producing perhaps their best work and receiving much deserved acclaim in their later years. Viewed in this light, Prime is an apposite title because it is a show that recognises the positive place these artists have reached in their creative lives: producing stunning, self-assured work and painting in a way that is personal and true to them individually.

There will be a catalogue of the show available to purchase at £10 per copy.
